As friends begin living together in an apartment in the center of Riga, Svens also becomes an integral part of the commune. Perfect days on café terraces, by the seaside, and in comfortable beds alternate with parties interrupted by the police, arguments in the courtyard, and mold under the sink. The longing to be loved draws Svens into a collapse of illusions, accompanied by a sweet-sounding noise—the lyrical soprano of the new singer Karlīna Gabriela. Easy to read, a play based on the book's motifs, "Silence and Noise," directed by Gusts, was staged at the Latvian National Theatre in the fall of 2025.
