The work is framed. Under glass. Paper/pastel 50/68 cm. Sketch for Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera "Pagliacci." 1948. The work is signed, which is rare in Veitner's oeuvre. Located in Teika Kārlis Veitners (1907–1994) was born in 1907 in Reval. In 1920, his family returned to Latvia. From 1922 to 1926, Veitners studied at Riga City Gymnasium No. 1, where his drawing teacher was Kārlis Miesnieks. He enrolled in the Law Department of the University of Latvia, later transferring to the
Classical Philology Department of the Faculty of Philology, and graduated from the Faculty of Theology (1940). He studied at the Painting Department of the Latvian Academy of Art (1940-1948).
He worked as a set designer at the Latvian SSR Opera and Ballet Theatre (1940-1967).
